Introduction
I am Samuel Xavier Thompson. Many of my friends refer to me as Survival Sam. It is my hope that by sharing my trials and tribulations that I encounter while getting ready for the impending apocalypse that I may help many of you to see the brighter days that are certain to follow the greatest period of strife that mankind will ever experience.
To start, I think it’s fair to give you the background information that most of you are most certainly curious about. This will strengthen your faith in my ability to survive the most challenging situations and demonstrate that I am indeed your best resource to get through the tough times that lie ahead.
I was born in 1973 in Chicago Illinois. I received high marks in school and excelled as a Cub Scout, then later as a Boy Scout. I have no doubt that I would have risen to the level of Eagle Scout if I had not been dismissed from the troop for accidentally starting a forest fire at Yellowstone National Park on a camping trip. My father was right when he said that Scouting and smoking just don’t mix.
I graduated high school in 1991 and went on to a full scholarship at Yale University. I completed my bachelors and masters degree in a record four years and then completed my PhD program in Astrophysics one year later. I went on to work for a private observatory in the Himalayas as their lead scientist.
In 1998, I stumbled upon the theories of the ancient Mayans and moved my area of interest towards the upcoming planetary alignment and the effects it would have on this planet. After two years of hard research I decided it best not to waste any more time on my career and dedicated my life to becoming the best survivalist I could be.
I spent the next several years living in forests, deserts, and every inhospitable environment I could find to throw myself into. I became an expert in survival tactics and how to apply them towards every situation. Once I became confident in my skills, I moved back to the Chicagoland area to start preparing for the end of the world.
Starting in 2005, I studied practical engineering and building to create plans for the perfect survival bunker. A year later I felt that I had mastered the skills needed to create the perfect environment to ride out the storm. I encountered a minor setback in 2007 when my then-wife had me committed so she could start sleeping with my neighbor. She has since moved on, but he still lives in the same house. I am so looking forward to that creep knocking on my bunker door on December 22, 2012. I’ve been practicing that laugh for years now.
I was released in 2009 and have since then worked to gather the building and survival supplies I will need to get me through what will be the end of most of humanity.
The following entries are meant to save you time and valuable energy as you are able to read about and learn from the mistakes and stumbling blocks I’ve encountered along the way.
Some day, when all this is over, I hope to meet some of you and share stories of how we got through the dark days that are still looming on our horizon. Good luck to you all and God bless.
Sam
