2012 Prophecy
Mayan Long Count Calendar-
The Mayans were an ancient civilization that flourished in what is now called Central America between the periods of 1000 B.C. to about 1000 A.D. This culture was one of the most highly technologically advanced of its time, and even exceeded that of some later cultures. Among many of their subjects of knowledge was their superior grasp of Astronomy. They Maya successfully predicted every solar and lunar eclipse of our planet to the exact day, as well as predicted the movements of all other planets in our solar system.
One of the more interesting remaining objects that they left behind was what is referred to as “The Long Count Calendar”. This calendar details an era that encompasses a period of 5,126 years and ends on December 21, 2012. This much is fact. What follows is the interpretation of several scholars and amateurs alike.
Some believe that this date marks the end of the world as we know it. Others believe that this is merely the ending of one cycle and the beginning of another. The inarguable significance of this date is that it coincides with other civilizations’ prophecy of the end of the world. The latter view is often countered with the notion that no further calendars were found anywhere in the ruins of this ancient civilization. The only thing that you are certain to find in further researching this is many diverse opinions that range from this date being just another day in our lives to the all-out apocalypse that may contain some or all the elements listed in apocalyptic texts such as the Bible’s Book of Revelation.
